What a difference a couple of years makes!

Have a look at the spa day at home I’ve just had with some girlfriends:

This is what pampering looked like to me two years ago! I couldn’t even get a bath in peace but my children are not babies anymore and as they are both at school, I took the opportunity to have a fun at home spa day with my friends, to catch up on all the gossip!

I’d invited them round after the school run, for a low cost way to have fun at home. As it was morning, I’d prepared a healthy breakfast!

fresh fruit cocktail

This is a fresh fruit salad with fat free natural yogurt and a little sugar free jelly and it went down a storm! After some freshly brewed coffee and our fruit, I set to work on Vicki’s face mask!

My sides ached with laughter after seeing this photo because she looks like a ghost! But as you can see from the video below, the mask worked a treat! It was from Korres and I’ve listed more information about all the products at the end.

Mel wanted some hand pampering as she’s got dry skin. With a baby at home, her hands are always in water- after every nappy change, cleaning and generally not having time to use cream regularly, so she dived straight into the Burt’s Bees kit! We all fawned over the smell of the Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Cream (which smells just like marzipan!) but here she is applying some Thoroughly Therapeutic Honey & Grapeseed Oil Hand Cream and then some Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream.

She thought the texture and smells were gorgeous so she took the creams home, but not before I wrangled away the marzipan smelling one for myself!

Nicola is the youngest of my spa day pals and lives a busy life as a 20 something, working, partying and generally burning the candle at both ends, so I wanted to give her a skin treat. I sent her up to the bathroom with the Jardins D’Eden Detox Body Scrub and the Korres Guava Body Butter for afterwards to exfoliate her dead skin so she’d come back glowing and smooth!

Doesn’t she look fresh?!

After all the treatments were done, we started on the cocktails! But as it was the daytime, we opted for the non-alcoholic ones, although POM sent me several recipes to try that are alcoholic too! Here’s Mel and I enjoying a POM Royale!

I’ve had a play about with a few of the POM recipes and below is a video showing my favourite- the Apple & Ginger POM! I made this after the girls had left and it was really nice and refreshing- perfect for Summer.

As we’re all so busy, it is nice to have a bit of time to pamper and chat so I’m sure I’ll have to organise another girly event after Summer when the kids are back at school for more skin treats!

When my 10 year old daughter came home from school and saw all the spa products and POM drinks in the living room, she insisted on joining in so I had a quick nail polish session with her and at bedtime, she and I enjoyed a bath together using a lovely Jardins D’Eden Indulge Bath Melt.

To have your own girls day in, get a group of friends together and some fab pampering products. The whole day can be done for less than £50 which is a fraction of the cost of a spa day for one! The website is currently running a competition to get ideas for money saving nights in as they believe staying in is the new going out, and I agree as we had just as much fun at home as we would have at any expensive day spa!

Here is a list of the pamper products we used and I also bought some food and refreshments to put together a perfect day:
